If you're hoping for a mushy Valentine's day recap, I'm sorry to disappoint. This is a recap of possibly the most ridiculous week ever; Valentine's day included.

It all started on Wednesday. I have a new assistant in my classroom...this was her second week. When I got back from my break Wednesday, they told me she had done something to her knee and someone else was going to come in and cover her shift while she iced for a while. I don't fully understand what happened, but she was gone the rest of the week. Edited to add: still gone.

Wednesday night I was watching television in bed, which Justin hates. He was turned on his side reading a book, and before I got up to turn off the tv, I leaned over to give him a hug. He turned at the same time and elbowed me, pretty hard, in the nose. I like to think I have a pretty fair pain tolerance. I don't remember the last time I cried from physical pain, but holy crap, tears. And blood. And tissues.

On to Thursday morning. Because my assistant was off on such short notice, I had a rotation of subststitutes in and out of my room which really threw me off, and my break/hours got switched all around. I also got a surprise visit from Aunt Flo while at work. Just. Freaking. Awesome.

So after work I had to run to Target to get some last minute Valentine's day stuff for school. We all know there's no such thing as a quick trip to Target. I had to run to Justin's school right afterward because I'm helping with costumes for their play. Naturally, I got stuck by a train. Not even a moving train. It just sat there for a good five minutes. Then when it started moving it crawled along so slowly I still wasn't sure it was moving at all. Needless to say I was a little late.

By 9:00 I figured it was time to get started on the valentines for my students, and I was up doing that for almost 2 hours because I am a perfectionist and couldn't just let them be.

Friday was not unlike any other day. We had a little card exchange and some games and treats at school, then I came home and was ready to crash. When Justin got home we cooked a delicious dinner (flank steak and BLT mashed potatoes) together and watched the Olympics until I fell asleep on the couch. Super romantic.

Saturday I ate sushi for the first time. We went with some friends for hibachi but there was a 40 minute wait so we decided to just sit at a table. I did not have the "puke-in-my-mouth" reaction that I thought I would, and despite the major mix up on our bill we will definitely go back.

It was an interesting week for sure. How was your Valentine's day?

  1. sushi is more texture than anything...i find that the fish itself doesn't have a taste.

hope this week isn't as crazy as last week!

  2. I am not a sushi fan. AT all!

We don't really do valentine's either.

So weird about your assistant. Has she called or anything?

  3. Wait, BLT mashed potatoes? What's that? Sounds interesting....

  4. Mac has elbowed me in the nose more than once. It is equally unpleasant and painful every time.
